Polling begins in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Dec 4 (ANI): Polling has begun in Rajasthan for 200 assembly seats in the state.
 

Rajasthan go to polls on Thursday

Jaipur, Dec .3: Rajasthan is all geared up for election. The state is going to polls on Thursday (December 4). Arrangements are in the last phase for Thursday’s polling for 200 assembly seats in the state.

Unprecedented security arrangements have been made for the election in wake of the terrorist attack in Mumbai last week.

Over 42, 000 polling booths have been set up for 3, 62, 19,481 eligible voters to exercise their franchise in the state.

The ruling BJP has fielded candidates for 193 seats, while the opposition Congress, has fielded candidates for all the 200 assembly seats. There are also 1023 independent candidates in the fray.

Campaigning for Rajasthan Assembly polls ends today

Jaipur, Dec 2 : The campaigning for the Rajasthan Assembly polls in all 200 constituencies will come to an end today.

The polling to elect a new state Assembly will take place on December 4. The counting of votes will take place on December 8.

The assembly elections in Rajasthan and five other states are expected to be a run down to the forthcoming general elections in early 2009.

Many leaders from different political parties are scheduled to campaign today. BJP President Rajnath Singh will address three election meetings in Kekri, Mauwah and Shahapura.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is also scheduled to address eight public meetings.

India will leave no stone unturned to fight terror: PM

Manmohan SinghJaipur, Dec 1 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said that no stone would be left unturned to fight terrorism while addressing a public rally here on Monday.

In the backdrop of the Mumbai terror attacks that killed at least 197 people and left 295 wounded, the issue of terrorism is bound to dominate the polls in Rajasthan.

“I also want to promise you that the Central Government will not leave any stone unturned in fighting terrorism. There is a request to all countrymen and political parties to help us in this fight against terrorism, and in maintaining law and order in the country,” said Dr. Singh.

International conference on accounting profession in Jaipur

Jaipur, Nov 20: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will organise an International Conference on "Accountancy Profession- Shining Bridge Between Global Economies" here today.

The five-day conference will be inaugurated by Minister of Corporate Affairs Prem Chand Gupta.

It will be a congregation of renowned experts in the area of accounting, auditing and management from International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC), the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA), the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and other international bodies including leaders from Trade and Industry of India.

Sprinkling holy Ganga water on roads to attract voters!

Sanganer, Nov. 16 : A maverick political candidate here has adopted a quite unusual method to draw voters'' attention. He sprinkles Gangajal or the holy water of River Ganges all around during his campaigning. 

Rajendra Patel is contesting elections for the Rajasthan legislature from Sanganer near Jaipur on the ticket of former BJP leader Uma Bharati''s newly floated Bharatiya Janashakti Party. 

He has undertaken the task of purifying his constituency by sprinkling holy water all around him, on roads in the lanes and by-lanes while campaigning in his constituency.

The drama appears to be to influence Hindus, who revere River Ganga.
