Nine militants killed, 27 arrested in Pakistan’s Swat Valley

Pakistan MapIslamabad, Nov 18 : Nine militants were killed and several others injured in fresh strikes carried out by Pakistani security forces against the militants in various parts of Shabqadr in Swat Valley on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, one-security personnel was killed in the ongoing operation, The News reported.

According to ISPR, security forces launched fresh raids against the militants in various parts of Kabbal, killing nine militants and injuring several others. Operation continued in Akhondklay, Zor, Dagai and parts of Kabbal today (Tuesday).

Qureshi’s India visit on 25-26 NovIslamabad, Nov 18 : Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will be visiting India on November 25-26 to complete his earlier visit made in June, which had to be cut short due to a political turmoil in his home country.

Quereshi’s visit will be the continuation of an earlier visit in June this year which remained incomplete because he had to return unexpectedly, reported The News.

During his visit, the Pakistani foreign minister will be meeting with the women journalists’ press body in New Delhi, and also attend a meeting of the farmers’ association in Chandigarh.

The firefight started Monday afternoon when the militants ambushed several tribal elders who were on their way to the district's main town, Khar, to attend a meeting of a local jirga, or tribal council, against the Taliban.

Heartbroken man attempts suicide in beloved's grave

PakistanIslamabad - A doctor was arrested in Pakistan's eastern province of Punjab after he failed to kill himself in his beloved's grave, police said Monday.

Irfan Sheikh, who age was estimated at 50, was found unconscious in the dug-up grave of his female cousin who died two days earlier in Kamalia, 130 kilometers south-west of Lahore, the provincial capital of Punjab.

Five Pakistani soldiers killed in suicide bombing

IslamabadPakistan - Five soldiers were killed on Monday in a suicide bombing at an army check post in Pakistan's restive Swat valley, security officials said.

"A suicide bomber riding a red colour Mazda Datsun (mini truck) hit the post this morning near Gashkor village. Five soldiers were killed while five more troops and three civilians were injured in the attack," district police chief Dilawar Bangash said.

PakistanIslamabad - A suicide attacker killed at least three troops and injured three more Monday at an army check post in Pakistan's restive north-west Swat valley, a local military spokesman said.

"A suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into the post at around 11:45 am in Gashkor village of the district," Colonel Nadeem Ahmad told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.

The post was completely destroyed in the attack, he said.
