Bali bomber Amrozi died pale and afraid

Three Bali bombers - Imam Samudra, Amrozi and Alu Ghufron, alias MukhlasMelbourne, Nov 10 : One of the Bali bombers, who was also known as the smiling assassin, Amrozi, was not so brave when faced with his own death, looking “pale” and afraid.

His older brother Mukhlas was more defiant and praised God to the end. One source said that of the three, Amrozi was the least brave and that as his end neared he looked pale and afraid.

The accident occurred on Sunday evening near Kupang, the capital of East Nusa Tenggara, and was caused by strong wind, the state-run Antara news agency reported.

Bali bombers executed in Indonesian island

Jakarta, Nov. 9 : A firing squad has executed the three Islamists who were involved in the bombings in the Indonesian resort town of Bali that killed 202 people.

The Bali bombers -- Amrozi, 47, his brother Mukhlas, 48, and ringleader Imam Samudra, 38, were executed in an orange grove near their prison on the Nusakambangan island off southern Java at midnight on Saturday.

They all shouted “Allahu Akbar” as they were escorted out of their isolation cells by paramilitary police.

The attorney general’s office in Jakarta is expected to confirm the execution today.

Indonesian bombers' bodies sent home

Jakarta  - The bodies of three Indonesian Muslim militants who were put to death by firing squad early Sunday for their roles in the 2002 Bali bombings have arrived at their respective home villages for burial.

A helicopter carrying the bodies of brothers Amrozi and Mukhlas, alias Ali Ghufron, landed at Tenggulun village of East Java province, before being brought by ambulances to their relatives' residence.

Another chopper bringing the body of Imam Samudra had also reportedly landed at police headquarters in Banten's provincial capital of Serang, then brought by an ambulance to his family's residence, witnesses and media reports said.

"Most possibly, the execution will be carried out tonight or at dawn," Mahendradatta, chairman of the team of attorneys for the three men, was quoted as saying by detik. com online news service on Saturday.
