Chatterjee expresses regret over UP Andhra assemblies ruckus

Uttar PradeshNew Delhi, Feb 11 : Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, on Wednesday, expressed great regret over the ruckus during the joint session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.

"Wherever it is, I do not want to mention any assembly, wherever it happens, it is extremely painful, extremely worrisome. It does not help strengthening of democracy. On the other hand, it weakens our democratic structure," Chatterjee told reporters.

National Conference on e-Governance to begin in Goa tomorrow

The conference is being organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances in association with the Department of Information Technology and the Government of Goa.

Senior Officers from the Government, industry, academicians, technical experts and NGOs will participate in the event.

Satyam Board meet to discuss operational issues on Thursday

The newly elected Satyam Chairman Kiran Karnik will chair the board meeting.

After receiving a Rs. 600 crore loan from banks, the company directors are aiming to restore the investor''s confidence.

The meeting is also likely to discuss issues relating to companies manifesting interest in acquiring a controlling stake in Satyam.

Meanwhile, the designated auditors are working on the restatement of accounts.

National Productivity Week commences

New Delhi, Feb 11: The National Productivity Council, under the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, will organise "National Productivity Week" from February 12 to 18.

The main theme of the productivity week for this year would be "Prosperity through Productivity".

An overarching objective of prosperity through productivity is to examine the notion of competitiveness from the perspective of a country, a region, a business and an individual.

The roles of individual initiative, business strategy and economic development policies in maximizing productivity and ultimately prosperity calls for recasting to fully tap the dormant potentials for productivity improvement

Kamal Nath to inaugurate Carpet Expo tomorrowNew Delhi, Feb 11 : Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath will inaugurate the 14th India Carpet Expo here tomorrow.

Shankersinh Vaghela, Union Minister for Textiles; G. K. Pillai, Commerce Secretary and Rita Menon, Textiles Secretary will also attend the function.

The four-day expo is being organised by the Carpet Export Promotion Council.
