Amity to offer courses for Ethiopian students

Amity University LogoNew Delhi, Feb. 11 : Amity University has announced plans to offer students from Ethiopia a wide variety of courses.

The plans reached fruition after a university delegation headed by Chancellor, Atul Chauhan met Ethiopian Prime Minister of Ethiopia Meles Zenawi and that country's envoy to India, Gennet Zewide, to discuss potential areas of collaboration in the field of education.

The university delegation apprised the Prime Minister of Ethiopia about the initial talks with Ethiopia's Education Minister Ato Demeke Mekonnen in Addis Ababa in December 2008.

CCEA approves policy for conversion of existing urea units

New Delhi, Feb 11 : The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today approved a policy to offer compensation to urea plants running on other fuels for conversion into gas-based units.

The new policy provides for a special fixed cost towards reimbursement of the cost of conversion to the urea unit after its conversion to gas is completed.

The conversion of these units will lead to increase in efficiency of urea production in the country and also add to usage of natural gas, which is the most efficient and cleaner fuel for production of urea in the country.

CCEA approves computerization, networking of post offices

India MapNew Delhi, Feb 11 : The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today approved a proposal of the Department of Posts for the computerization and networking of post offices, divisional offices, sub divisional offices.

By the end of the financial year 2009-2010, all post offices excluding single handed and the Gramin Dak Sewak post offices will be computerized and networked.

All administrative offices up to sub divisional office will be computerized. This includes 6915 post offices, 2222 administrative offices and 23 accounts offices of the Department of Posts.

Chidambaram lashes out Modi on "local link" remark

P. ChidambaramNew Delhi, Feb 11 : Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram, on Wednesday lashed out at Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi over his controversial remark about a ''local link'' in the Mumbai attacks.

"Since Pakistan and Modi are saying the same thing on Mumbai attacks, someone please ask Modi if he and Pakistan are in contact with each other," Chidambaram said.

Union Minister Mahavir Prasad charged for murder case

Mahavir PrasadGorakhpur, Feb 11 : Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Industries Mahavir Prasad has been charged in connection to the murder of an Ujjarpur village resident Ram Pragat in Gorakhpur district.

Gorakhpur Senior Superintendent of Police Aditya Mishra informed that the Allahabad High Court had ordered the registration of a case against Prasad here last night under Section 120 B of the IPC for conspiracy to murder.

Cop probing Rizwan case dies mysteriously

Rizwanur-RehmanNew Delhi, Feb. 11 : Assistant Superintendent of Police Arindam Manna, who was investigating the death of Rizwanur Rehman, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Wednesday.

His body was found on the railway tracks in Hooghly, Kolkata. Sources claimed that the police officer had gone on leave on February
9.

Police are yet to ascertain the cause of Manna's death.

Manna was the first investigating officer in the Rizwanur Rehman murder case, and he was also the first to discover Riwanur's body.
