AIIMS Convocation Postponed To October 25

New Delhi: According to Health Ministry sources, the AIIMS convocation in which the medical students were to be granted degree certificates has been delayed to October.

Now, the students were to be honored their degree certificates by Union Health Minister, Anbumani Ramadoss, on September 25.

The sourced stated, “The Minister has prior appointment on September 25 and the date of convocation was fixed without his consent.”

India donates Bangladesh 10 million dollars for flood relief

Dhaka, Sept 16: The Indian government today donated Bangladesh flood assistance worth about 10 million US dollars.

The Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka, Pinak Ranjan Chakraborty, formally handed over the cheque to Bangladesh's foreign affairs adviser, Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, here.

This donation would be used for flood relief and post-flood rehabilitation.

The Indian government earlier in June offered the assistance when rain-triggered mudslides killed at least 125 people in the country's south-eastern Chittagong city.

Manmohan Undergoes Surgical Operation At AIIMS

New Delhi: For benign enlargement of the prostate gland, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today went through a surgical operation at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Sanjaya Baru, Manmohan’s Media Adviser stated that the operation took place to treat benign prostatic dysplasia of the prostate gland.

“The Prime Minister was recovering and has had a stable post operative course,” Mr. Baru added.

For the next two days, Mr. Singh will stay at hospital, and it is likely that he will go back home by Monday morning.
