New Delhi, Sept 5: The Ministry of Women and Child Development will organise an exhibition on nutrition here today on the occasion of National Nutrition Week.

The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘ Invest in child Nutrition’.

During the three-day exhibition, important activities like instant health check-up, assessment of BMI of the visiting women and adolescent girls will be organized.

Live demonstrations of the low cost nutritious recipes, nutrition quiz and nutrition games will also be arranged at the venue to make this occasion very useful and informative for the people at large.

New Delhi, Sep 5 : President Pratibha Patil will distribute National Awards to teachers for the year 2007 here today.

These awards are being presented every year to accord public recognition to meritorious school teachers.

This year altogether 320 teachers have been nominated. Of these, 82 are lady women teachers. Nine teachers have been nominated under Sanskrit category and five are for teaching in Madarasas. Thirteen teachers fall under the Special category.

New Delhi  - At least 10 people were killed and another 10 are missing after a bus plunged into a river in India's northern state of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, a news report said.

More than 20 were injured in the accident when the bus skidded off the road into the Chenab river in the southern Kishtwar district of the mountainous state, the PTI news agency reported.

Seven people died at the scene, one on the way to hospital and two succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, the report said. Three women were among the victims.

New Delhi, Sept 4 : Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), which is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee year, will be organising a two-day National conference on
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) here from Friday.

Continuing Professional Education Committee and Northern India Regional Council of ICAI are organizing this conference.

Kushna Dam (Nepal), Sept 4 : Indian flood victims have alleged that they are being discriminated by the authorities at relief camps in Nepal.

The Indians, hailing from the flood hit Bhawanipur in Bihar, who had taken refuge over the Kosi dam in Nepal were shifted to relief camps after the repair work on the dam started.

These victims accused the relief authorities at the camp of discriminating against them while distributing food relief.

The authorities at the relief camp have issued coupons to the flood victims that need to be shown at the time of distribution of relief material.

Mumbai, Sept. 4 : The Bombay High Court on Thursday said that a bar dancer can be termed a ''genuine artists''.

"Merely because these girls were performing in dance bars earlier, it cannot be readily inferred that they are not genuine artists," Justice A B Chaudhary said.

The dance bars of Mumbai had been given performance licenses by the government itself, Justice Chaudhary further noted.
