New York, Sept 25 :Following is the joint statement issued after meeting between Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday evening during the 63rd UNGA session in New York.
New York, Sept. 25 : Deeply hurt by the recent bombings in India and Pakistan, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday evening decided that their respective governments will take the menace head on.
Dr. Singh, in particular, took a strong stand against terrorism during their meeting in New York on the sidelines of the 63rd session of the UN General Assembly.
New York, Sept. 25 : Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday sought to revive Kashmir as the "core issue" of its ties with neighbouring India, and described the unrest in Jammu and Kashmir as "an indigenous uprising".
"Kashmir remains the core issue in India-Pakistan relations. The ongoing uprising in Kashmir is an indigenous one," Zardari told Pakistani media persons at a briefing at Barclays Intercontinental here ahead of his meeting with the Indian Prime Minister.
New Delhi, Sept 24 : The third runway of the Indira Gandhi Airport in Delhi will become operational from Thursday morning.
The first flight to land at the airport will be an Air India Flight, scheduled to land at 6.15 a. m. These decisions were taken at a meeting of the Ministry of Civil Aviation with all stakeholders, chaired by Joint Secretary K. N. Srivastava.
The other decisions taken at the meeting are:-
• For optimal utilization of facilities and in the larger interest of the passengers, as far as possible all arrivals would be handled at runway 28-10 and all departures from the new runway (29-11).
New Delhi, Sept 24 : Union Defence Minister A. K. Antony on Wednesday said that the Indian Coast Guard has evolved into an effective, efficient and dependable maritime force of our nation.
He was speaking at the inauguration of 27th Commanders'' Conference of the Indian Coast Guard in New Delhi today.
