French Minister of State for Foreign Trade coming on a two-day to visitNew Delhi, Sept 15 : French Minister of State for Foreign Trade Anne-Marie Idrac would be visiting India for two-days from Tuesday.

This visit will be made in the perspective of the forthcoming European Union-India and the France-India summits to be held on September 29-30, as well as in a follow-up of the State visit to India made by the President of the French Republic Nicolas Sarkozy in January this year.

1 killed and 8 injured in communal clashes in VadodraVadodara, Sept 15 : At least one person was killed and eight others injured in Vadodara when one group started pelting stones on the other on Monday.

Prohibitory orders banning assembly of more than five people were clamped by police in the city after the communal tussle between two groups.

The festive aura of the immersion of lord Ganesh at the end of the ten-day festival turned sour when people of reportedly belonging to Muslim community allegedly tried to create hindrance in the immersion procession by pelting stones.

Four security men, militant killed in clashes in Indian Kashmir

Srinagar, Kashmir - Four Indian security men and a suspected Muslim militant were killed Monday in gun battles across Indian- administered Kashmir, police said.

Army troops and police launched a joint operation at a militant hideout in a forested area in Surankote town, some 250 kilometres north-west of the state's capital Jammu.

"Four security personnel including two army soldiers and two from

the police's Special Operation Group were killed in the encounter," a local police official said.

"The security team has been fighting a group of three militants and the gun-battle is still on," he added.

While addressing a press conference in New Delhi he said, “In addition to Central assistance, the State also requires help from international donors like World Bank and Asian Development Bank.”

Dr. Jha said flood has affected about three million people in the state and extensive efforts are required to rebuild the region.
