UK offers eight-million-dollar aid for Nepal peace process

Kathmandu, Sept 19 : The United Kingdom has pledged an aid of eight million dollars for the peace process in Nepal.

Visiting British International Development Minister Shahid Malik offered the aid to Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala today.

During his meeting with Koirala at Baluwatar, Malik described the Maoist decision to quit government as unfortunate, and stressed the need for political consensus.

Koirala’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Dr Suresh Chalise told this to reporters after the meeting.

Kolkata man carves architectural splendours from wood

Kolkata, Sep 19 : A man from Kolkata has a fiery passion for woodcraft, and has carved several miniature replicas, which include the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Big Ben of London and the famous Howrah Bridge.

Amit Todi, a businessman who started carving replicas two-years ago, spends hours of his free-time carving pieces of wood, creating architectural splendours.

Over time, what started as a project has turned into Amit's hobby.
