Sri Lanka can jump over England and Pakistan in ODI rankings: ICCDubai, Jan. 19 : Sri Lanka will move up two places to fifth in the Reliance Mobile ICC ODI Championship table if it beats Pakistan in all three ODIs coming up in Karachi and Lahore.

According to an ICC media release, Mahela Jayawardena's team currently lies in seventh position following a tour of mixed results in Bangladesh. In a tri-series that also involved Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka lost one match to the home side but later exacted revenge in what was a thrilling and closely fought final.

Dubai, Jan. 15 : Work on the world''s tallest building in Dubai has come to a halt for at least a year thanks to the global financial crisis.

A Scotsman report says that developer Nakheel''s decision to shelve the project, which it unveiled only in October, came as a leading credit rating firm warned that falling property prices leave the outlook for the country''s banking sector looking negative.

A report this week showed home values in the Emirate tumbling eight percent in the past three months from the previous quarter, marking the first such decline in years.

The skyscraper - billed as at least two-thirds of a mile tall - was designed to top a rival''s nearly complete tower that will be the world''s highest.

Hayden confirms his place among the all-time greats of the game

Australian left-hand opener Matthew HaydenDubai, Jan. 14 : Australia's Matthew Hayden, who has just retired from representative cricket, can now look back on an international career that puts him in the top 10 Test batsmen and top 20 ODI batsmen of all-time, according to the Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings.

Hayden's highest Test rating of 935 came during the Ashes series of 2002-03 and puts him level in 10th position with South Africa's Jacques Kallis and just behind four others, Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara and a West Indian triumvirate consisting of legends Clyde Walcott, Viv Richards and Garry Sobers.

Top performers named in provisional squads for ICC Women’s World Cup 2009

ICC logoDubai, Jan. 13 : The best of the best in women's cricket have been named in the provisional squads for the ICC Women's World Cup 2009 to be held in Australia from
7 to 22 March.

In ICC events, participating teams are expected to submit their provisional squads 60 days prior to the start of the tournament while the teams are expected to name their final 15-player squads 30 days before the first match.
