Starbucks topless mermaid logo ‘too racy’ for customers

Melbourne, May 31 : International coffee house chain Starbucks is under fire for using a logo depicting a topless mermaid.

The mermaid with long flowing locks, elegantly curved tail and enigmatic smile has been their original logo for 35 years.

A Christian group has called for a boycott of the global coffee chain because the new logo now shows the mermaid naked from the waist up, with only two thin locks of hair preserving her dignity.

"The Starbucks logo has a naked woman on it with her legs spread like a prostitute,” the Daily Telegraph quoted Mark Dice, founder of the group Resistance, as saying.

“Need I say more? It’s extremely poor taste, and the company might as well call themselves Slutbucks,” he added.
