Aizwal, Mar. 20 : In a bid to resolve the border dispute between Mizoram''s Kolasib district and Assam's Hailakandi district, talks would be held in the border village of Phaisen on Friday.
The Additional Superintendent of Police of Kolasib Lalthafamkima, said that a joint verification of the disputed site would be done by the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) of Vairengte and his Hailakandi counterpart.
Aizwal, Nov 24 : An increasing number of women candidates are joining the electoral fray in the forthcoming assembly elections in Mizoram, scheduled to be held on December 2.
Mizo women have not been getting due importance in the state electoral politics although their contribution to Mizo society, economy and the church of the Christian-dominated state has been immense.
This has been despite the women voters outnumbering the male voters.
According to records, out of the total of 611,124 voters, there are 308,884women voters as against the 302,240 male voters.
Aizwal (Mizoram), Nov 22 : Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has promised to develop Mizoram in a bid to woo the youth of the State
Addressing a public meeting here on Friday Gandhi said: "We should try and develop Mizoram the way it should. It will be a government that will look after the poor in Mizoram and most importantly it will work with youth to ensure a bright future for Mizoram."
He also described remote states as being equally important for the development of the country.
Aizwal, May 27 : Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee is arriving here today to inaugurate the 11th North East Region Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (NERCP).
Chatterjee will inaugurate the Conference at the state Legislative Assembly hall.
He will be accompanied by Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan, Lok Sabha Secretary General PDT Achary and Rajya Sabha Secretary General Dr V K Agnihotri.
Aizwal, Feb. 7: Till a decade ago Mizos were not keen to learn Hindi, the national language, but with the passage of time, many are now drawn to learning it here.
The Government of Mizoram has included Hindi in the school curriculum till standard seven and plans to include it till standard ten.
People are realizing that knowing Hindi could be of great help in the future, including employment and cultural exchange.
