Kabul  - Eight members of the Afghan security forces and 15 Taliban militants including two rebel commanders were killed in separate clashes and a roadside bomb explosion in Afghanistan, officials said Sunday.

Taliban militants ambushed a police vehicle in Pashtun Zarghoon district of western Herat province on Sunday morning, killing four policemen, Abdul Raouf Ahmadi, spokesman for police forces in the western region said.

London, Mar. 29 : Hamid Karzai and Asif Ali Zardari may have welcomed US President Barack Obama''s new strategy on Afghanistan and Pakistan (now called AfPak in Washington), but experts have warned that both the South Asian countries will have to pay a fair price in exchange of the US aid.

According to Afghan President Karzai, the proposal for increased civil and military aid was "better than they were expecting."

Kabul- Three army soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb in eastern Afghanistan, while 12 Taliban militants including two rebel commanders were killed in separate clashes, the military said Sunday.

Four other Afghan soldiers were wounded Saturday when their vehicle was blown up by a remote-controlled roadside bomb in Zurmat district of south-eastern province of Paktia, the Defence Ministry said in a statement.

Canberra, Mar. 29 : Australian troops engaged in the war against Taliban may have to spend almost a decade in Afghanistan, an expert has claimed.

Clive Williams, Australian National University’s Visiting Professor on Defense Studies, said the fight with the Taliban would continue while US-aligned troops train the Afghan Army.

US-led coalition forces claimed that their troops, backed by Afghan forces, killed 12 militants in a night-time raid in Nahr Surkh district of southern Helmand province, some 125 kilometres west of Kandahar city, the US military said in a statement.
