Re-elected Musharraf will only be a President, not ruler of Pakistan: Rashid

Islamabad, Oct 2 : Pakistan’s Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has said that after getting re-elected, General Pervez Musharraf will have to change his mindset, as he will become the President, not the ruler of the country.

The people’s elected Prime Minister should be the ruler of the country, he said on a private television channel.

Raashid said that Musharraf after getting elected as a civilian President would have to change his mindset, and added that the real ruler would then be the people’s elected Prime Minister who would not be a premier like Shaukat Aziz or Mir Zaffarullah Khan Jamali.

Rashid said it was feared that the law and order situation would deteriorate during the upcoming elections.

He said the forces active in destabilising Pakistan, in collaboration with tribesmen, wanted to worsen the situation.

If even one bomb blast occurs during the general elections, then there would be disorder galore, the Daily Times quoted Rashid, as saying.

He said that the present situation is very bad, and added that ministers taking reporters to hospital were beaten and peoples’ faces were being sprayed with black ink.

"Does this reflect a civilised society?" he asked. (With inputs from ANI)
