Rays of hope to resolve Singure issue
Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee is softening her stand day by day. It has raised the hopes of resumption of work at the controversial site of small car project at Singur. Mamta asked her party protestors to stop the agitation and let the traffic go on the Durgapur Express highway. Her appeal came after the meeting between the government and protest leaders on Friday. The meeting was chaired by the state governor, Gopalkrishna Gandhi but he failed to develop a compromise formula. However, he said that the matter will be solved soon after the constructive dialogues between state and the protestors.
The member of the state penal, Industries Minister Nirupam Sen expressed satisfaction over the talks. He said the state government would do its best to resolve the matter. The state would give the 47.11 acres land of West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation for the commercial use. The government is expected to increase the economic rehabilitation package for farmers whose land is acquired.
