There were raids conducted by the DCGI in as many as 134 chemist shops in Rajasthan as well as Delhi. They have found out that a lot of illegal trade is being conducted in these outlets. There were as many as 84 chemist shops that were selling illegal drugs. They were found to have been selling those drugs that are banned for use.

The health officials are of the view that the surprise checks have been conducted to find out the day-to-day functioning of the chemist shops. They were here to find out what the reality of the outlets is.

"During the inspection, it was found that in 85 sale premises, prohibited drugs were still available for sale. Orders for not disposing of the stocks of prohibited drugs have been issued to the concerned licensees and further action will be taken against them after the investigations are over”, the official said.

There were as many as 13 teams that took part in this survey and found out a number of the parameters laid by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization. Major parts of Delhi were visited and it was found out which places abided by the rules and which were indulged into illegal activities.
