Rahul Gandhi raises concern over rebels in Congress party
Jaipur, Jan 21, : All India Congress Committee's General Secretary, Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday said that action against the rebels, who may harm prospects of the party during elections, should be taken before distribution of tickets.
Speaking at the first meeting of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) functionaries, MLAs, MPs since the formation of the Congress government in Rajasthan under Ashok Gehlot, remarked that one of the problems in the Congress was that those who work for the party and those who harm the party are getting the same treatment.
Gandhi, on this occasion, urged the youth workers of the party to reach out to villages to help the poor under various schemes launched by the United Progressive Alliance
(UPA) government.
Rahul said, "We have enrolled about 3-5 lakh new members in Uttarakhand and Punjab, and both states went through block, district and state NSUI and Youth Congress committees for the first time properly".
Rahul Gandhi asked to check the accountability of the candidates be decided right at the time of ticket distribution on the eve of any poll and said, "in the next two years the NSUI and YC would hold block, district and state level polls involving genuine member who possessed valid ID-cards". (ANI)
