Qantas to revive frequent flyer program

Qantas to revive frequent flyer programAustralian aviation firm, Qantas has said that it has it is planning to revive its frequent flyer members.

Experts have said that the frequent flyer members believe that the points given to them are their right and not a reward. The move to alter the loyalty progarmme might attract criticism from the customers. Under the new rules, the customers will earn points based on their ticket class, rather than the distance flown.

The airline is increasingly facing competition from Virgin Australia and the reaction to the changes to the loyalty programme might affect its ability to attract customers. The airline did not face enough competition a few years earlier in business class or full service economy but the entrance of a new rival has changed the market.

A host of customers are now members of both Qantas and Virgin Australia loyalty programs and this will allow them to chose the other airline if they get better deal.
