London, April 22 : Princes William and Harry visited injured military personnel at a rehabilitation centre in Surrey on April 21.

The royal duo met with the troops at the Defence Medical Services Rehabilitation Centres in Headley Court near Epsom, Surrey.

The visit came previous to next month's City Salute Appeal, reports The Sun.

The appeal was launched last month and aims to celebrate the UK armed forces and their families and will aim to raise money for the centre for a new physiotherapy sports complex and swimming pool.

During the visit, Prince Harry reunited with an injured serviceman who had been on the same flight as him back from Afghanistan.

Marine Ben McBean, 21, lost an arm and a leg after a mine exploded while he was out on patrol.

He was flown back to the UK for medical treatment at the same time as the Prince was forced to return home after his tour of duty was cut short.

Marine praised the princes for their visit and singled out Prince Harry for having first-hand experience of life on the front line.

The Princes are joint Royal Patrons of the City Salute Appeal - launched on March 27.

Projects at the centre that will receive funding include a swimming pool, a sports complex for physiotherapy and family accommodation.

The centre is the top most facility for the rehabilitation of injured servicemen since the Second World War.

It was originally developed as a centre for aircrews and officers after a collection of funds and donations during the war, but in 1984 it was extended and now treats personnel of all ranks and Services. (ANI)
