Prince Harry may become first royal general
London, Jan 4 : Prince Harry is currently being lined up as a future commander of the Household Cavalry, which is Queen's favourite regiment.
The younger son of Prince Charles has told friends that he would be "honoured" to take charge of the regiment, the oldest and most senior in the British Army, the Daily Star reported.
The 30-year-old, a serving captain in the Blues and Royals, one of the two regiments which make up the Household Cavalry, is understood to have passed all the exams needed for his next promotion to major and if he stays in the Army he could be promoted to Lieutenant Colonel by 2023.
He has already told colleagues he wants to remain a soldier for as "long as the Army will have him".
The Household Cavalry is composed of the Blues and Royals and the Life Guards - the two oldest and most senior regiments in the British Army and Harry could command the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, which takes part in ceremonial duties such as Trooping the Colour and the State Opening of Parliament where they serve as the Queen 's "body guard".
