Police say driver of stolen car was 11
BALSTA, Sweden, Nov. 30 -- An 11-year-old Swedish boy who tried to flee police, first in a stolen car and then on foot, was run down by a police dog.
Police flagged the car down in Balsta, north of Stockholm, late Friday, The Local reported. After officers discovered the car had been reported stolen and ordered the driver and three other young people out, the boy tried to drive away but was halted by a road barrier.
A tracker dog brought down the boy and a 14-year-old girl. Both children were treated at a local hospital for injuries inflicted by the dog and released to their parents.
Two other passengers have been identified by police as ages 14 and 15. Only the 15-year-old is old enough to face criminal charges.
"I have never experienced, in my 25 years anyway, such young people," Tommy Rinaldo of the Uppsala Police District told the news agency TT. (UPI)
