Police hunt down British suspect in killing of Arroyo aide's son

Police hunt down British suspect in killing of Arroyo aide's sonManila  - Philippine police Friday launched a manhunt for a British man suspected of killing the son of a senior aide of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo during a traffic altercation.

The suspect, Jason Ivler, is the stepson of an executive at the Asian Development Bank, according to national police chief Jesus Versoza.

Versoza said Ivler was the main suspect in Wednesday's killing of Renato Vitor Ebarle, whose father is an aide of Arroyo, in a Manila suburb.

Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina, a police spokesman, said Ivler is considered armed and dangerous.

"Printouts of Ivler's photographs have been circulated to different police units in Manila as well as in major airports and seaports," he said.

Espina said the suspect's stepfather, Stephen Pollard, has vowed to cooperate with the police and to help locate his stepson.

Police records showed that in 2004, Ivler was involved in another fatal car accident in Mandaluyong City that killed a senior aide of Arroyo. (dpa)
