Perth third best airport, Sydney comes last
Perth Airport is the third best airport in Australia, says a report published by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. Sydney came last in the list of five main airports.
The ranking has been marked looking at the financial position of the airports, the number of passengers that it gets and also the quality of services that is provided.
The best was the Brisbane airport, which performed well in all the parameters.
Perth Airport, which has seen fall in service quality, has invested a large sum to correct this. As per the information in the annual report, it has infused 19 per cent of its asset value as part of the investment plan.
During 2009, it saw 9.7 million passengers coming at the airport, which is a 6 per cent rise over the previous year.
Meanwhile, for fourth time in a row, Sydney airport has come last in the rankings.
It witnessed just 1 per cent rise in the number of passengers to reach 93 million.
It also recorded the highest price per passenger followed by Melbourne; the rise was not very significant. The figure for Sydney was $13.63 and for Melbourne it came down to $7.96.
