Perth storm causes a flood of insurance claims
The Perth storm has brought a flood of insurance claims, said Insurance Council of Australia.
The Western Australians alone submitted a claim of A$70 million since the March 22 hail storms took place.
Allianz, the insurance company has stated that it received 2,000 claims, costing it $17 million. The company also said that it is expected that some more claims will come up in some time.
As of now, the insurer claims that the total worth of these could range in between $200 to $300 billion.
With these claims in the picture, Perth will become the costliest disaster in the history of Australia.
Perth witnessed the wettest day on March 22, after a storm struck with the speed of 120 kms. While no lives were lost, property worth millions was destroyed.
It was declared as a natural disaster and soon after people started claiming their insurance policies.
The victims are also getting relief under the state's recovery assistance program.
Meanwhile, there is news that there are no more threats of future storms, as per the Fire and Emergency Services Authority of the state.
