Pak PM says US has nothing to do with Musharraf’s impeachment

President Pervez MusharrafIslamabad, Aug 13: Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the US had nothing to do with President Pervez Musharraf’s impeachment, an exhaustive charge-sheet of which has been prepared.

He said that the Army Chief Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani was a thorough professional and wanted to strengthen democracy in the country, by not supporting Musharraf.

Talking to journalists after National Youth Award (NYA) ceremony here, the PM said that President’s impeachment would bring about a positive change in the system and it was not against any personality.

Pro-Mush men not allowed to participate in coalition talks

Pervez Musharraf & Yousuf Raza GilaniIslamabad, August 9 : Rehman Malik and Farooq H. Naek, the two key members of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani’s cabinet, were kept out of the critical coalition talks on President Pervez Musharraf’s impeachment and the restoration of the sacked judges.

This was the first time that Malik, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Interior Affairs, was not involved in important consultations.

According to The News, Malik, was kept totally out, while Naek was called when he was needed and then told to leave.

Indian embassy bombing not discussed at Bush-Gilani meeting

According to the White House Press Secretary Dana Perino, the duo had a “good meeting” earlier this week during which they agreed that the two countries need to fight terrorism jointly.

WashingtonPak Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, July 31: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, on a US visit, has said that he also expected an India-like civil nuclear deal from the US, and added that Washington should not discriminate between the two South Asian nations.

“There should be no discrimination. If they want to give such nuclear status to India, we expect the same for Pakistan,” Gilani reportedly said while talking with Richard N. Haass, the president of the Council on Foreign Relations, at a meeting jointly organised with the Middle East Institute.

He said that due to repeated military interventions, democratic institutions could not take firm roots in the country. A democratic and prosperous Pakistan was the need of the hour for a peaceful South Asia, said Gilani who is on his first US visit after assuming charge.
