Gen. (Retd.) S.F. Rodrigues, Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, has demanded a stern introspection and action oriented approach for women empowerment by executing the different Legal & legislative measures, through an institutional and responsive system.

Mr. Rodrigues also said that there is a need to launch a general awareness campaign regarding this major societal concern, and public-private partnership plans for giving equal status to women.

A former mayor and top congress leaders of Chandigarh requested the Punjab's Governor and UT administrator, S F Rodrigues to go on leave to allow free and fair probe of the embezzlement cases pertaining to some mega projects in the city. The Governor and his advisor are alleged of offering various projects to the big business houses by flouting all norms and rules.
