Madrid, Apr 21: President Pratibha Patil on Tuesday said India will seek to promote ties with Spain in all fields, including political, trade and investment, cooperation in mutually beneficial areas like renewable energy, agriculture and tourism.
In response to the welcome remarks by President of Congress, here, Patil said that bilateral relations between India and Spain have always been cordial and have gained momentum in recent years.
Madrid - Indian President Pratibha Patil was Tuesday welcomed by Spain's King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia after arriving Monday for the first official visit by an Indian head of state to Spain.
The four-day visit was expected to focus on stepping up trade relations, investments, and on the fight against terrorism, diplomats said.
The Spanish royal couple welcomed Patil and her husband Devisingh Ransingh Shekhawat in front of El Pardo palace.
While lecturing at a function organized by the Delhi Diabetic Forum on Saturday in New Delhi, Indian President Pratibha Patil said that there is a need for a wide-ranging approach in order to take diabetes awareness to rustic regions of the country where people are totally ignorant about the ailment.
Mrs. Patil said that the rustic population is totally unaware about the disease so there is a need to organize special activities in villages to benefit the people living there.
New Delhi, Apr 17 : President Pratibha Patil on Friday issued the notification for the fifth and last phase of Lok Sabha elections.
In this phase, polling will be held in two seats in Jammu and Kashmir, nine seats in Punjab, four seats in Himachal Pradesh, eleven in West Bengal, five in Uttarakhand, 39 in Tamilnadu, 14 in UP and one each in Puducherry and Chandigarh.
The last date for filing nomination is April 24 and scrutiny will take place on April 25.
