Islamabad, July 26 : Expressing concern over a reported NATO attack in Pakistani tribal areas, President Pervez Musharraf warned a U-S think-tank on Saturday that no such attacks will be tolerated in future, and that Pakistan reserves the right to retaliate.
Talking to a senior advisor of the US think-tank Dr Hormon Olmen in Rawalpindi, Musharaf asserted that the Afghan-based NATO forces are not being attacked from the Pakistani soil nor is any cross-border activity taking place from here.
Peshawar, July 26 : Ruling coalition partners in Pakistan have agreed not to give any indemnity to the ‘November 3’ actions of President Pervez Musharraf, said Raza Rabbani, Leader of the House in the Senate.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Rabbani said, “Musharraf has no right to address joint session of the Parliament as he has no role in the country’s politics and affairs of the government.”
“Musharraf should have resigned after February 18 polls as the people had rejected his government’s policies,” he added.
Islamabad, July 24 : Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf today said that he would support the government in its efforts to overcome the twin problems of terrorism and the economic downturn.
Musharraf said this during a meeting with Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ibad Khan and Chaudhry brothers at the Presidential Camp Office here.
He also said that a clash between institutions would seriously damage the country at this time.
The President said he has an important role to play in the present set up and that he will continue to do his best in this regard.
Washington, July 24 : The US administration is planning to deliver key policy messages to Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani during his next week’s US visit, in a bid to make it clear that now it wants to get over its Musharraf phobia and acknowledge the new politico-democratic government led by Gilani.
Lahore, July 23 : Pakistan’s Former Foreign Minister and member Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Asif Ahmed Ali, today said even if the judges are restored through passing a resolution, President Pervez Musharraf will still have the option to use Article 58-2(b).
He said this while addressing a seminar organized by People’s Forum here at Lahore High Court on Wednesday.
Islamabad, July 22 : The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has criticised the Pakistan People''s Party (PPP) for achieving "reconciliation with President Pervez Musharraf", and urged upon the ruling party to impeach the President without any further delay.
"PML-N always calls for impeachment of President Musharraf and restoration of sacked judges to end this political and economic uncertainty," The Daily Times quoted PML-N Information Secretary Ahsan Iqbal as saying in a statement.
