Musharraf may get indemnity if resignsIslamabad, Aug. 17 : If Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf opts to resign from office; Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani''s coalition government is willing to forgive all his acts, sources privy to the latest developments told Daily Times.

They prime minister or the federal cabinet is likely to send a summary to the president in this regard, and if he signs it, the Law Ministry will notify it," they added.

The sources said the proposal was being considered under Article 48 of the Constitution, which binds the president to act on advice of the cabinet or the prime minister.

Dawn News said that the charge sheet contains over 20 strongly worded allegations against the president. It further said that the impeachment charges include gross misconduct and violation of the constitution by the president.

Meanwhile, the government may consider giving amnesty to Musharraf if he resigns.

In an analysis on the prevailing political conundrum in Pakistan, which appears in the Daily Times, Dr. Rizvi says the country "is undergoing a major political transformation from a centralized authoritarian Musharraf-dominated political order to democratically elected people-oriented governance."

Pervez MusharrafIslamabad  - Pakistan's ruling coalition said on Saturday it had prepared a charge sheet against President Pervez Musharraf to impeach him in parliament.

Information Minister Sherry Rehman said the draft of the charges had been handed to the Law Ministry, which was expected to convert it into appropriate legal language.

"The legal draft will be presented to the coalition leaders on Sunday or Monday and after their approval it will be tabled in parliament next week," she told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.
