Islamabad, Aug 21 : Non-reinstatement of sacked Pakistan chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was a part of the “deal” which had been agreed between the federal coalition government and former President Pervez Musharraf before the latter’s (Musharraf) resignation, sources privy to the deal revealed.
According to them, the deal was struck with the help of Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.
Karachi, Aug 20 : With former President Pervez Musharraf rendered powerless after his resignation, his King Party the PML-Q’s leaders have also gone into oblivion as some of them escaping into self-exile while others disappearing from the political scene.
Musharraf’s exit has forced the rest to duck for cover, the Daily Times reported and added that however, they are facing difficulties seeking political shelter, as their only option of joining the PML-N is a far cry since the party is reluctant to accept them for different reasons.
Islamabad, Aug 20 : Signs of the four-party coalition government in Islamabad falling apart were witnessed last evening when PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari expressed his unwillingness to restore the deposed Supreme Court chief justice Ifthikhar Chaudhary and proposed the “Minus One” formula, which means restoration of all judges except the sacked CJ.
Muzaffarabad (PoK), Aug 20 : Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) prime minister Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan has said that former president Pervez Musharraf’s resignation “would not affect” Pakistan’s policy on Kashmir.
The prime minister said Musharraf’s four-point formula was never a final solution of Kashmir issue but it was one step forward towards the issue.
Khan said while addressing a national security workshop here in Muzaffarabad last evening, reported The News.
Islamabad, Aug 20: Around 63 percent of people in Pakistan are happy at former president Pervez Musharraf’s resignation, while 15 percent regret the move, a new survey conducted by Pakistan’s unit of Gallup International has revealed.
Nearly 20 percent of those interviewed couldn’t tell whether were happy or unhappy at Musharraf’s moving out of the scene. “20 percent were ambivalent about saying whether they were happy or unhappy”, the Daily Times quoted the survey findings as saying.
