Islamabad, Sept 17: America’s top military official Adm. Mike Mullen made a hurriedly arranged visit to Pakistan last evening for holding talks about a recent incursion by American commandos based in neighboring Afghanistan.

The visit assumes significance in the wake of strong reactions emanating from Islamabad against the US’ raids on its territory, and especially after the Pakistan Army ordered its troops to hit back at US’ troops in case of future raids.

Islamabad, July 13 : US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Admiral Mike Mullen made an unscheduled visit to Islamabad and met Army Chief Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, and asked Pakistan to “act decisively” against Taliban and al Qaeda militants suspected of mounting cross-border attacks in Afghanistan.

During his brief stay, Admiral Mullen met the Kayani, and Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Tariq Majeed, and discussed with them the latest situation in Afghanistan and joint efforts to deal with the challenge posed by terrorists in Fata.

Sources said that the US was “deeply frustrated” with Pakistan’s lack of ability or willingness, or both, to move decisively to end the rising infiltration by the Taliban militants into Afghanistan.

Washington, Feb 18 : The Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Michael, G. Mullen has said the military is only part of the solution in the war on terror in Pakistan.

Admiral Mullen, who visited Pakistan last week, was speaking the short and long-term challenges facing the US military at a meeting of military analysts at the Pentagon.

Admiral Mullen said: “Part of the long, enduring conflict that we are in is going to be tied to winning the ideological war,” he added, “I’m a big believer in relationships.”
