Antony favours armed forces, wants anomalies in Sixth CPC sorted outNew Delhi, Oct 1 : Defence Minister AK Antony today dismissed reports of differences between the Central government and the armed forces over the recommendations of the Sixth Central Pay Commission (CPC) on salaries of Armed Forces personnl. .

Antony disclosed that the government was ready to add Rs 6,000 crore as further commitment over and above the Pay Commission’s recommendations.

Coast Guard efficient and dependable maritime of India: Antony

He was speaking at the inauguration of 27th Commanders'' Conference of the Indian Coast Guard in New Delhi today.

Antony to present scooters to disabled soldiers in Kerala

A K AntonyThiruvananthapuram, Sept. 22 : Defence Minister A. K. Antony will handover the keys of specially altered scooters to disabled veterans at the RDR Auditorium in Idapazhanjy on September 27.

Antony will also address army veterans.

On September 27 evening, the army''s motorcycle stunt team, "Shweta Ashwa" and three military bands will perform at the Chandrasekhar Nair Stadium, while on September 28, the army will exhibit some of its equipment, including a T-72 battle tank, on Shangumugham Beach.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army will recruit soldiers from seven districts in Kerala from September 25 to October 5.

49 per cent FDI in defence sector on need basis: Antony

A K AntonyNew Delhi, Sept 20 : Defence Minister A. K. Antony said on Saturday that it would consider allowing 49 per cent Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the defence sector "on a case-to-case basis."

The Defence Minister was speaking at an ASSOCHAM seminar on defence procurement policy. He said, “We will stick to the policy of allowing 26 per cent FDI in Indian defence sector. We will consider allowing 49 per cent FDI only on a case-to-case basis, if the industry is able to convince us."

Antony favours armed forces, wants anomalies in Sixth CPC sorted outNew Delhi, Sep 19 : Defence Minister A K Antony has strongly favoured sorting out of “anomalies” in the Sixth Central Pay Commission (CPC) notification raised by the three services chiefs in their representation to the government.

In his latest letter to Finance Minister P Chidambaram this week, Antony raised the issues, including the ones relating to Personnel Below Officer Rank (PBORs), top Defence Ministry sources said in New Delhi on Friday.
