Having angered India, Miliband goes soft on ChinaLondon, Jan. 23 : British Foreign Secretary David Miliband has already ruffled India with his comments on Kashmir, and also his attempt to link the resolution of the Kashmir dispute to the ending of the terror menace in South Asia, but that diplomatic disaster, has not stopped him from cozying up to China.

According to The Independent, Miliband was clearly on best behaviour when he arrived in Manchester to lunch with leading members of the Chinese community.

Jammu & KashmirLondon, Jan. 22 :British Foreign Secretary David Miliband continues to attract flak at home and from abroad for the way he sought to bulldoze the leadership in India into accepting that the root cause of terrorism in South Asia, was India's refusal to sit down with Pakistan and solve the over six decade long Kashmir dispute.

Indian officials have told The Times that they were upset by his suggestion made in an article for The Guardian and in private discussions.

Miliband wrote: "Resolution of the dispute over Kashmir would help deny extremists in the region one of their main calls to arms."

Miliband calls on Gilani, Sharif

David MilibandIslamabad, Jan. 16 : British Foreign Secretary David Miliband called on Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani here on Friday.

According to a Geo News report, he also met Pakistan Muslim League (N) Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif here at the Punjab House.

His visit to the Pakistan capital comes a day after his completion of a two-day visit to India, where he said there is need for the Pakistani authorities to showcase urgency in taking action against those responsible for the Mumbai terror attacks.

In an article in the Guardian newspaper, Miliband said that categorizing the threat posed by hugely different groups as a simple battle of "good and evil may have done more harm than good."

Miliband's thinly-veiled swipe at outgoing US president George W Bush came ahead of a speech he is due to deliver Thursday in the reopened Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai which was at the centre of a November terrorist attack.
