Condoleezza Rice in Delhi, delay in signing 123 pact

US Secretary of State Condoleezza RiceNew Delhi, Oct 4: US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrived here on a two-day visit but the 123 civilian nuclear agreement will not be signed today.

During her visit, Rice will hold talks with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on bilateral and regional issues, and also on ways to take the bilateral strategic partnership further. She will also hold talks with Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

Rice looking forward to her meetings with Indian leaders

Condoleezza RiceWashington, Oct. 3 : U. S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has said that she is looking forward to her meetings with the Indian leadership during her visit to New Delhi.

Though her schedule is yet to be confirmed, Rice told media and officials at a State Department reception here that ties between India and the United States were on a firm footing, and added that the bilateral civil nuclear cooperation deal should be seen as a part of Washington’s "enduring" friendship with New Delhi.

The car bombing in Damascus killed 17 people and wounded another 14 in the early morning attack in the busy Sayyida Zainab district.

Rice to visit India

Condoleezza RiceWashington, Sept. 26 : US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice may soon visit India to discuss the next steps in actualising the US-India civil nuclear cooperation deal.

Revealing this to the Indian media accompanying Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on his 10-day visit to the United States and France, Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon said: "I think, we are discussing the possibility of the visit of the Secretary of State to India. We have been trying it for sometime and looking for possibility of dates."
