Amar Singh and Ahmed Patel get Clean ChitA Lok Sabha committee that went into the cash-for-votes scam during UPA government's confidence vote gave Samajwadi Party MP Amar Singh and Congress MP Ahmed Patel a clean chit on the pretext of the absence of solid evidence against them.

"There is no direct evidence against Amar Singh. The committee is inclined to discount the video clip of the car entering or coming out of Amar Singh's house because in the first place the video clipping does not show the face of persons (claimed to be Shri Argal and Kulasthe) seated in the rear seat," the committee said.

10 new MPs take oath in Rajya Sabha10 new MPs were administered oath by Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari today including Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh and his party colleague Ram Gopal Yadav.

Of the total 10 MPs who were administered oath in the Upper House, five belong to BSP, two are from BJP and one MP is an Independent, apart from the two SP MPs.

BSP MPs included Akhilesh Das, who earlier this year had joined the party after leaving the Congress, Brijesh Pathak, Veer Singh, Rajaram, and Avtar Singh Karimpuri.

Mulayam to raise Jamia encounter issue in UPA-SP meet: Amar Singh

Amar SinghNew Delhi, Oct. 8 : Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh on Wednesday said that party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav would raise the demand for a judicial probe into the Jamia Nagar encounter when the Samajwadi Party meets the UPA leadership next week.

Talking to reporters after meeting the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh here, Singh said: "I raised the issue for a judicial probe with the PM. But as I was not assured anything on it, my party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav will raise the issue during the UPA-SP coordination committee meeting likely on October 14."

Samajwadi Party ready to offer legal aid to alleged Jamia encounter terrorists

Amar Singh, Samajwadi PartyNew Delhi, Oct 7 : Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh today promised legal help to those arrested by the Delhi Police in the Jamia Nagar encounter, three days after he demanded a judicial probe into the encounter that left two alleged terrorists and Inspector M C Sharma dead.

While addressing reporters here today, Singh said, "Shoot them if they are terrorists. But if they are innocent, then they should be given justice."

Amar Singh, Samajwadi PartyNew Delhi, Oct 6 : The Parliamentary Committee investigating the cash-for-votes scam against Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, has in its report said that there is no clinching evidence against him.

The Lok Sabha committee recommended a CBI probe and suggested further investigation into the case.

The final meeting of the committee is scheduled for October 17.
