According to reports, people in Sydney got the opportunity to see the International Space Station passing in front of Jupiter and Venus. The celestial event was observed in the north-west sky for approximately six minutes after 5:30pm.

As per scientists, the space station circles the earth on a regular basis. However, last night, it was for the first time that it appeared very close to Jupiter and Venus that were seen aligned.

Stargazers throughout the world observed Venus and Jupiter crossing within a few degrees of one another on June 30. The juxtaposition of the planets looked similar to two very bright and close stars in the sky.

Geoff Wyatt, the acting manager of the Sydney Observatory, told Mashable Australia prior to the event that it was expected that the ISS would be visible everywhere in Australia. But as per reports, Sydney and some other places were considered as main places to observe the ISS look. However, he added that ISS will appear colliding with Jupiter and obviously, this will be an optical illusion.
