PCB audit report expected to unearth massive multi-billion rupee scam

PCB announces performance-based special bonus for its cricketersIslamabad, Mar. 26 : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set for some more trouble, as its four-year audit report is slated to be released later this month, which is expected to throw light on the massive irregularities committed by the board functionaries over the years.

According to Dawn, the audit report, when made public, would expose mammoth scams running into billions of rupees.

The report will unveil massive irregularities in the sale and printing of tickets for the One-day Internationals and Test matches played in Pakistan, purchase and sale of several vehicles, and also the board’s handling of the Oval Test controversy.

“It will be an eye opener for everyone and may prove disastrous for many officials who managed the cricket board in the recent past,” a top government official said.

He said the report may be just the tip of the ice-berg, as many of the important files are missing and the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) has managed to examine only ten percent of the documents.

Sources said that government was planning to appoint a permanent AGP official in the PCB to make it more accountable, and bring transparency in its work. (ANI)
