Panacea gets Rs 10 crore assistanceA financial assistance came in accordance to Biotechnology Industry Partnership Programme of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology at a long term loan
basis at the rate of 2 percent per annum. This noble cause gets a waiver for the loan.

Panacea has recently laid a thumb impression for the first instalment of Rs 3 crore.

This is all in regard to the vaccine Pandyflu, a vaccine against the H1N1 virus (Swine flu). It’s the step of DBT which nurtured the support and R&D for the vaccine. Also, it is in accordance to
Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Programme. It is believed to be the first indigenously developed vaccine against the deadly disease.

This step of DBT towards development of influenza A (H1N1) or other pandemic flu vaccines is acknowledged and it also saw a rise in the shares of the biotechnology firm.
