Pakistan's opposition alliance decides to boycott polls
Islamabad, Nov 24 : Pakistan's opposition alliance, All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM), on Saturday announced boycotting the forthcoming general elections in the country, and issued a four-day ultimatum to the government for withdrawal of the emergency rule.
The meeting was attended by Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Liaquat Baloch, Raja Zafarull Haq, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Imran Khan, Dr. Abdul Hye Baloch and other leaders of the alliance, The News reported.
The alliance said that if President General Pervez Musharraf fails to withdraw emergency within four days, a nationwide protests would be launched against the regime.
Later at a press conference, APDM leader Raja Zafar-ul-Haq demanded restoration of the constitution and judiciary, and release of all political detainees. (ANI)
