Pakistani version of ‘Indian Idol’ takes off

Islamabad, Nov 12: The concept of reality shows on TV is catching up with the Pakistani broadcasters. After America, India and several other nations, the people in this country are all set to get an opportunity to select the ‘Pakistan Idol. ’

The Geo TV group has launched the musical programme to hunt the talented youths from all across the world and help them giving a platform to show their talents.

“These talent hunt contests are a wonderful platform for aspiring singers. These competitions provide a fantastic opportunity for those who want to showcase their talent”, said Nasir Butt, an aspiring singer who participated in audition of this contest.

He said that the selection process for this music contest was going on in different cities and the criteria for selection of singers is purely talent based.

The inaugural function of this programme was marked by a colourful musical night in which renowned trendy vocalists won the hearts of the audience at the PAF Museum, The Nation reported.

“This unique programme aims at exploring talented singers. It’s also a good opportunity for youngsters belonging to all walks of life to make their career in music field. It is hoped that this show will bring the genuine talent on the screen”, said a prominent singer.

A source said that Geo Television Network in collaboration with the Pop Idol’s franchise company Fremantle Media laid the foundation of Pakistan Idol.

Prior to Pakistan Idol, this programme has successfully proved its worth in over 41 countries, including Britain, US, Canada, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Russia, Singapore, Malaysia and India, the daily said. (ANI)
