Pakistan inching closer towards ‘tipping point’: Admiral Mullen
Washington, Apr. 25 : Expressing serious concern over reports that the Taliban is inching closer towards Islamabad, the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, has said Pakistan could be taken over by insurgents.
"We're certainly moving closer to the tipping point where Pakistan could be overtaken by extremists," The Nation quoted Admiral Mullen, as saying.
In an interview to a private television channel, Admiral Mullen expressed hope that following the Obama Administration's decision, the arrival of additional 17,000 US troops in Afghanistan would certainly help in stabilizing the region.
"We're going as fast as we can go right now and we want to get it right," he said.
Admiral Mullen said he also agrees with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's view that the Pakistan Government is basically abdicating to the Taliban and other extremists. (ANI)
