Pak HR body demands probe by foreign experts into Karachi violence

PakistanLahore,
Apr 11: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has called
for a probe by international experts into Wednesday’s violence that hit
the streets of Karachi, in which at least seven lawyers were allegedly
burnt alive by unidentified miscreants.

It said that those who were behind the barbaric incident should be brought to book.

“What
happened in Karachi on Wednesday, especially the burning alive of
several innocent people, could only be condemned as acts of horrible
bestiality. The hands behind the obvious counter-offensive by the camp
hostile to lawyers’ campaign must be exposed and the culprits brought
to the book,” the Dawn quoted the Commission as saying in a statement.

The
statement added that the difficulties in probing incidents of violence
in which the highest in the land were apparently involved were obvious.

It
further said that the dastardly acts witnessed in the country over the
past few days demand high-level probe by international experts,
although their success too couldn’t be taken for granted. (ANI)
