Oz punters back Obama to win US prez polls

Melbourne, Apr. 21 : Barack ObamaPunters in Australia are backing Democratic front-runner Barack Obama to win his party's nomination as presidential candidate and to go on and win the November election.

One confident punter has reportedly placed 50,000 dollars on Obama at 1.20 dollars, who has attracted about 65 per cent of all monies bet on the Democratic candidate market

"With just 10 Democratic Primaries yet to be decided, Australian punters have given the Illinois senator a strong lead over the former first lady Hillary Clinton," news. com. au quoted Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan, as saying.

"Senator Obama remains a strong favourite at $1.20 with Sportingbet Australia, while Senator Clinton is returning odds of $4.50 and former vice president Al Gore is the Democratic long shot at $17.00."

"Punters should note that the race is not completely over for Hillary, if she can win the remaining primaries, she can go to the August Democratic convention with renewed confidence," Sullivan said.
