Nordic bourses open the week on a high
Stockholm - The main stock exchanges in the Nordic region ended on a high note Monday, buoyed by the news of a US government plan to rescue banking giant Citigroup.
The Stockholm bourse closed up 9 per cent with strong gains for banking shares including SEB.
The benchmark C20-index in Copenhagen finished up 5 per cent, one of its strongest gains to date, with wind power group Vestas surging over 18 per cent. Banking groups Danske Bank and Nordea also posted double-digit gains.
Helsinki's benchmark also closed up over 8 per cent.
In Oslo, the bourse was up over 10 per cent benefiting from a slight rise in oil prices. (dpa)
