Washington, Feb. 11 : Nokia and HTC have reportedly settled their long-running patent infringement battles by agreeing on a 'patent and technology collaboration' that would settle all outstanding litigation.

Patent battles between the two mobile manufacturing companies were being played out in several countries and have seen a handful of HTC phones banned from sale in Europe.

According to PC World, the companies said that HTC would pay Nokia an undisclosed sum and the collaboration would involve HTC's patents on LTE or 4G technology.

Nokia's chief intellectual property officer, Paul Melin, hailed the agreement as validating Nokia's patents while HTC's general counsel, Grace Lei, said that her company was 'pleased to come to this agreement.'

The report said that Nokia had asserted since 2012 that HTC infringed on about 50 of its patents and engaged in unauthorized use of proprietary innovations and won an injunction in Germany in 2013. (ANI)
