Islamabad, Nov 10 : A state of emergency imposed by Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf is likely to be lifted within one month, Attorney General Malik Qayyum has said.

Washington, Nov 10 : The proclamation of emergency by Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf is playing a spoilsport in the US-Pak anti-terror operations in the tribal areas, as military troops are busy tackling domestic protests against the emergency, a US daily has claimed.

Lt General Carter Ham, director of operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington said on Wednesday, “We would certainly not want to see... jeopardised in any way” the “very valuable” cooperation between the two militaries, the Daily Times reported.

Mumbai: Private equity firm Blackstone Group has invested $65 million to get hold of 26% stake in Indian engineering company MTAR Technologies Pvt Ltd.

The Hyderabad-based MTAR makes critical components and products used for aerospace and defense applications. The funding will be a mix of primary and secondary equity.

Akhil Gupta, chairman of Blackstone Advisors India Pvt Ltd said, “We are very enthusiastic about this investment as we foresee a huge growth opportunity for MTAR both in domestic and global markets.”
