Rajnath to meet top ITBP officials to review security situation in border areas

New Delhi [India], Sept. 30 : Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will today hold a meeting with the top officials of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) to review the security situation in border areas.

The meeting comes a day after India conducted surgical strikes on seven terrorist launch pads along the Line of Control (LoC) early on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference here, Director General of Military Operations Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh said "significant casualty was caused to terrorists during the operation".

SC to hear Nestle's plea to destroy 550 tonnes of Maggi

New Delhi [India], Sept. 30 : The Supreme Court will on Friday hear the Maggi noodles matter on the application of Nestle India Ltd., who had approached it seeking 550 tonnes of seized expired stock be handed over to them by the Food and Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) so that the stock can be destroyed.

The FSSAI stated that adherence to this request might lead to destruction of evidence, to which the court replied that some samples may be retained for reference by the FSSAI.

The FSSAI is supposed to respond to this request by Nestle in the next hearing.

PM Modi to inaugurate India Sanitation Conference on Friday

He will inaugurate the day long INDOSAN ( India Sanitation Conference) on Friday meant for taking stock of the progress made under the Swachh Bharat mission.

After the inaugural session, Urban Development Minister M.Venkaiah Naidu and Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister Narendra Singh Tomar will co-chair a plenary session on 'Behavioral Change' -Aspects of Swachh Bharat Mission'.

Govt. announces Rs.90 lakh cash awards for Rio Paralympians

New Delhi [India], Sept.29 : The government has announced cash awards of Rs. 90 lakhs for Rio Paralympics 2016 medal winners.

Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thawaarchand Gehlot said that the cash awards are being given under the Awareness Generation and Publicity (AGP) scheme. Gehlot said he will felicitate medal winners at a special felicitation programme.

Gold medal winners Mariyappan Thangavelu and Devendra Jhajharia will be awarded Rs.30 lakh cash prize, Silver medallist Deepa Malik will be facilitated with Rs 20 lakh and Varun Singh Bhati will be honoured with Rs 10 lakh for winning a bronze medal at the Rio Paralympics 2016.
