L&T to invest Rs. 300 billion by 2015

LTL&T Power Development Ltd. is planning to invest Rs. 300 billion to install new power plants of 5000 megawatt capacity, over the next six years time i. e. by 2015. Out of this Rs. 300 billion, Rs. 70-80 billion will come in from equity funding.

Also for the expansion with 5000 megawatt capacity, L&T Power Development will require 25 million tones of coal annually. The company will source one fifth of this from abroad.

Atlas reduces loss, increases income

logo-atlasAtlas Iron Ltd. saw a substantial increase in its revenue for the first half of this year. The company's revenue reached $41.7 million, up from last year's $3.5 million.

Besides, it also saw its net loss narrowing down and reach $24.4 million for the six months ending December period. Last year during the same time it was $42.2 million.

The results come after a news report by an Indian newspaper said that the company has received a $230 million non-binding bid from three companies. The first one is India's NMDC combined with Saudi Arabia's ABS Consulting and Australia's Boulder Steel.

Lend Lease appoints Scott Charlton as Head Operations

Lend-Lease-GroupLend Lease Group Ltd., the property developer, has appointed Scott Charlton as the new Director of Operations. He would be joining his new post from today itself. He would be reporting directly to the Chief Executive of Lend Lease, Steve McCann.

Details about his remuneration have not been made public as of yet.

Scott was earlier with the Leighton Holdings Ltd and was working there as the Chief Financial Officer. He had resigned from his earlier position in October last year.

GWA plans to acquire Brivis for $50 million

GWA-LOGOGWA International Ltd. has said that it is planning to takeover Brivis Climate Systems from Carrier Air Conditioning Pty Ltd.

The building products supplier expects that the total cost involved would be $50 million.

The terms and conditions involved have not been disclosed as of yet.

GWA is looking to acquire the Braeside-based company so that it can add its production of ducted climate systems in its list of products. The company plans to integrate Brivis with its Dux Water Heating business.

However the euro gains were limited, after the Greek Prime Minister George announced that the global meltdown might get a worse face if the Greek crisis worsens.

In the late trading hours, euro slightly went a high at $1.3629.

Till now the Greece effect eroded the euro value to 4.8 percent against the dollar in 2010 and 7.6 percent against the yen.
