Husain, you'll live through your creations: Rahman

A R RahmanNew Delhi, June 10 : Paying tributes to M. F. Husain, acclaimed composer A. R. Rahman says the ace painter will live through his creations.

"We'll miss ur wisdom and free spirit... You will live thru ur interpretation of life's colors... thru ur creations Hussain Saab.. peace and prayers (sic)," Rahman posted on his Twitter page.

Husain died in London Thursday at age 95.

Allahabad Bank eyes business growth of 24 percentKolkata, June 10 : The state-run Allahabad Bank has targeted a business growth of 24 percent during the current financial year 2011-12, a top bank official said here Friday.

The bank has also projected a business level of around Rs. 2,80,000 crore as in March 2012, chairman and managing director J. P Dua said in his address at the bank's ninth Annual General Meeting.

The bank plans to increase its presence abroad by opening more overseas branches, Dua said.

Ismail Darbar, A R Rahman New Delhi, June 10 : The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has denied any action against Indian music composer Ismail Darbar for alleging that A. R. Rahman "bought" his Oscars for "Slumdog Millionaire" in
2009.

"The Academy does not plan any action relative to Mr. Darbar's comments. It is simply not possible to 'buy' an Academy Award. While some individuals might disagree with the results of our voting processes, the Academy stands behind the integrity of the voting," the Academy's publicist told IANS in an e-mail.

India's April industrial output rises at a slow 6.3 percentNew Delhi, June 10 : India's industrial production grew at a much slower 6.3 percent in April as per the new series compared to 13.1 percent in April 2010, according to official data released Friday.

The new series will now compute the index of industrial production (IIP) keeping 2004-05 as the base year, compared to the earlier series which had 1993-94 as the base.

As per the old series, the IIP growth came in at a much slower 4.4 percent. It had grown by 16.6 percent in April 2010 going by 1993-94 as the base.
